Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the metro rail next Wednesday. He will unveil the Uttara Metrorail inauguration plaque and deliver a speech. Then he will come to Agargaon from Uttara by metro rail.
Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL), which is responsible for the construction and operation of the metro rail in Dhaka, has decided to. The concerned officials say that gradually the metro rail movement time and number of trains will be increased.
Dhaka’s first metro rail is being launched after one more day, i.e. on Wednesday. Initially, the Metrorail will run four hours a day—from 8 am to 12 pm. While running from Uttara to Agargaon, the trains will not stop midway.
DMTCL is making last minute preparations for the inauguration. Agargaon from Uttara was visited on Sunday, Metrorail station name writing, road renovation work, laying tiles on the footpath, planting flower trees on the road divider, painting and cleaning work are going on.
The train will stop at the station for 10 minutes
Initially, the train will stop for 10 minutes at the metro rail station to pick up and drop passengers. Its purpose is to acclimatize passengers. The DMTCL authorities have run the train and tested the movement of passengers, opening and closing of train doors. It has been seen that it takes a little longer for the passengers to get on and off the train after buying the ticket. So for now it has been decided to wait for 10 minutes. After 15 days the situation will be reviewed and further decision will be taken.
According to DMTCL sources, for the time being, the movement of metro rail will be closed for one day in a week. The day will be Tuesday.
