Overall progress of Mega Project Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant is satisfactory: State Minister for Power

State Minister for Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid said that the overall progress of the mega project Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant is satisfactory.

He expressed satisfaction with the progress of the overall work despite some minor impacts due to Covid-19. He said these things when he visited the Rooppur area of ​​the Ishwardi district of Pabna today to inspect the progress of construction of the Rooppur nuclear power plant, the biggest mega project in the country, and PCB transmission line work.

The State Minister said Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant will play a great role in building a developed, prosperous and smart Bangladesh at an affordable cost and with clean energy.

From 2024, the first unit of the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant will add 1,200 MW of electricity to the national grid. The work progress of the first unit of the Rooppur nuclear power plant is 87%.

The State Minister thanked the Russian Federation for the exchange of nuclear technology at the invitation of his daughter Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to build the Sonar Bangla of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu’s dream.

During the inspection of Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant, Power Department Secretary Md. Habibur Rahman, Chairman of Bangladesh Power Development Board, Managing Director of PGCB, and Project Director of Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant were present.
